Post Op Lymphatic

Gentle, supportive lymphatic care designed to promote circulation, reduce fluid buildup, and support your body’s recovery process.

Post-Op Lymphatic Massage Aftercare

Post-operative lymphatic massage is intended to provide gentle, supportive care while your body moves through the recovery process. Because every procedure and recovery is different, your surgeon's instructions always take priority over the recommendations below.

Immediately After Your Treatment

-Drink water and stay hydrated according to your surgical team's recommendations.
-Take your time getting up and moving around after your appointment.
-Follow your surgeon's instructions regarding compression garments.
-Keep physical activity within the limits provided by your surgeon.
-Avoid adding additional massage, pressure, or treatments to the surgical area unless cleared by your medical team.

For the Rest of the Day
Your body may feel relaxed or tired following treatment. Depending on your stage of recovery, you may also notice temporary changes in swelling or tenderness.

For the remainder of the day:

-Rest as needed.
-Follow your surgeon's activity restrictions.
-Wear compression garments as instructed.
-Stay hydrated according to your medical team's recommendations.
-Follow all wound-care and medication instructions provided by your surgical team.
-Do not use your massage appointment as a substitute for your post-operative medical follow-up.

Your Recovery Is Individual
Healing looks different for every person. Swelling, bruising, tenderness, and changes in fluid retention can vary depending on the procedure, your stage of healing, and your individual recovery.

Your massage therapist cannot determine whether a change in your recovery is medically normal. If you are unsure about a symptom or change, contact your surgeon or healthcare provider.

When to Contact Your Surgeon
-Contact your surgical team if you have concerns about your recovery or experience symptoms that seem unusual, unexpected, or different from the instructions you were given.

Seek urgent medical attention for a medical emergency.

If you are experiencing significant or rapidly worsening symptoms, do not wait for your next massage appointment to address them.

Before Your Next Appointment

Please let your practitioner know about any changes in your recovery, including:

-New or increased pain.
-Changes in swelling or bruising.
-New medical restrictions.
-Changes to your compression instructions.
-New medications or procedures.
-Any concerns raised by your surgeon or healthcare provider.

If your surgeon has given you specific instructions regarding massage, activity, compression, or timing between treatments, please share those instructions with your practitioner.

Important

-Your surgeon's instructions always come first.
-Post-op lymphatic massage is complementary care and does not replace medical treatment, surgical follow-up, or advice from your healthcare provider.
-If you have questions about whether massage is appropriate at a particular stage of your recovery, please consult your surgeon before booking.

Aftercare Reminder
Follow your surgeon's instructions • Stay hydrated • Honor your activity restrictions • Wear compression as directed • Allow your body time to heal
